Cameron Watkins
Civil Engineer
If there’s an adventure to be had, Cameron Watkins is already halfway there.
The Whakatāne-born engineer loves all things fresh air and outdoor active, taking every opportunity to get into the mountains, up the hills, and down the rivers of New Zealand.
The youngest of five children, Cameron grew up trying to keep up with his two older sisters and two older brothers on the farm - scrapping, competing, racing, jostling, and pushing hard to hold his own in a busy household.
“I think my childhood was shaped a lot by my sisters and brothers. Despite being the youngest, I tried to compete with them in everything they did,” he says.
“Everything in our family is a competition, race, or challenge.”
Cameron studied civil engineering at the University of Canterbury - it felt like a natural fit with his love of construction and “building things.”
He worked in New Zealand before spreading his wings and spending four years working in Europe.
Cameron joined Envelope’s Mount Maunganui office in early 2025. He loves the small-team vibe, Envelope’s proactive approach to supporting their staff, and the variety of work - both in the office and out on-site.
Outside of work, he loves to travel and try new foods from around the world. But he’s also a Bay boy at heart, just as happy with a sausage in bread and a cold Speight’s. The latter might just be at his favourite place - camping at Maraehako Campsite on the East Coast.
That’s before he jumps back into the Amazing Race of life: hiking, fishing, skiing, biking, tennis - competing.
Out there doin’ it.
