Project Director - Structural

Three driving forces have defined Jamie Maxwell's life—football, family, and epic builds. Not always in that order. It really depends on the day.

He and his cousins spent every moment they could outside in a classic Kiwi childhood in and around Invercargill, New Zealand – climbing trees, building epic forts, and soaking up the sun. Jamie cites his parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents as major influences in his life.

For teenaged Jamie, the love of constructing a good fort morphed into a desire to become a builder. His uncle had his own building company, so during one of his school holidays trips south, he worked alongside his uncle in Christchurch. During that time, his uncle encouraged him to stretch his wings with some further study.

After dabbling in studying food science for a year at Otago University, Jamie decided it wasn’t for him and returned to Invercargill, picking up a job as a Survey Assistant back in his hometown. He enjoyed the mix of work in the office and on site, and a move to London later led him to branch out into engineering. He joined Team Envelope in mid-2024, relishing the emphasis on supportive, open workspaces.

Outside work Jamie loves hanging out with family, snowboarding and playing football, as well as supporting his own kids to enjoy their own sporting endeavours.

Two classic Kiwi holiday spots are top of his list – Queenstown and Wanaka in winter, and camping at Kaiteriteri at the top of the South Island in the summer months.

These days, Jamie is fuelled by coffee, and a plan to get his classic Mazda RX3 back on the road after a long time in storage.

Jamie is still involved in the planning of epic builds – these ones a bit larger, and typicxally in urban environments. So, it is still forts, family and football – not always in that order. It really depends on the day.
