LOUIS FREELAND

PROJECT LEAD + SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER (CPEng)

Getting out of the office was high on Louis Freeland’s list when he chose his career. And his role as a civil engineer in Envelope’s Wellington office allows him just that.

Louis grew up in Wellington but ready for an adventure after secondary school rather than more study, he headed overseas and travelled around Europe. On his return, he headed to Christchurch to study engineering.

He spent some time doing geotechnical engineering but has transitioned to civil engineering which he feels is a great fit for him. ‘I just love civil engineering because there are so many ways to solve the same problem, and it takes a bit of creativity sometimes.’

On the weekend, it is once again being outdoors which interests Louis, with surfing, rock climbing, tramping, or hanging out at a nice beach top of his list. He loves travelling and sampling new food, meeting new people and experiencing unusual places.
