He was the muscle for the failed egg heist of ’24, hefting the dynamite and packing it, along with clothes, around the safe, before blasting the lock off.

Sadly, the safe was not opened, and they escaped with just a few shillings, and a dozen eggs (though current market value on those would make him a wealthy man!).

The younger of the pair, Egbert is well known as a chick magnet, wining and dining pretty young chickadees around New Zealand while he waits for Egor to dream up the job which will make the pair rich enough to retire.

Egbert also has a number of collections at home and is most proud of his collection of vintage egg cups.

Egbert becomes animated when he talks about a mysterious benefactor “Stempler” who gave him his start in being a heist superstar with his first job in Wellington’s Egmont Street.
