Kelly Todd

Wellbeing + People

The excitement of unpredictable New York and the moods of windswept Wellington. The caring mum with fabulous fashion sense and the dad with mad photography skills and a passion for star gazing. From The Stranglers and New Order of Manchester to an art teacher in the Peak District. Kelly Todd has had a wide range of influences and continues to have a passion for learning – a real lust for life.

Kelly was born in Manchester, in the United Kingdom (which she describes as “gritty, interesting, and creative”) and grew up in the famous Peak District in the north of England (“rugged and beautiful”).

Her mum was a ballet dancer, pattern cutter, mother and nurse. Her dad was a star-gazing photography lover with an incredible “life curiosity”. And Kelly and her sisters adored their grandma.

She absolutely loved the Manchester music scene of the past, especially the post-punk era, with bands cutting their musical teeth in the very next town to hers, including The Buzzcocks, The Stranglers, and The Smiths. And Kelly also hailed from the same neighbourhood as punk fashion icon Vivienne Westwood.

Perhaps unsurprisingly since her father had three photography studios in Manchester at one time, Kelly loved art and photography and spent her teens and 20s with a camera in hand. Her art teacher, Tom Brown, was another inspirational figure.

She worked as a photographer at a laboratory and creating beautiful portraits after a move to New Zealand. Kelly shifted into working as a studio and events manager in the tech industry. It was here she realised her love for all things people, culture, and wellbeing.

Starting in 2024, Kelly is thrilled to be at Envelope’s Wellington office and to help the teams thrive in their work lives. She has found Envelope has a lot of heart and the teams really care about each other, and as well as working hard they play and laugh hard also.

Yoga is Kelly’s other passion, and she is a trained yoga teacher. The early passion for music continues, and there is a music studio downstairs at her home, and Kelly also loves to go to live gigs.

When she has spare time, Kelly loves running and travelling. New Zealand’s capital Wellington will be delighted to know it is first equal with glamorous New York as Kelly’s favourite place.

A true Brit at heart, Kelly loves a strong cup of tea – perhaps while listening to Love Will Tear Us Apart or Ever Fallen in Love. After all, you can take the girl out of Manchester but you can’t take Manchester out of the girl.
