STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Hot sweet tea and cold-formed steel are two diverse features of Rushi Cui’s recent life.

Born and raised in China, Rushi moved to New Zealand to study engineering at university, gaining her bachelor’s degree with honours in civil engineering in 2018. Since then, she has continued studying for a PhD in structural engineering, working on the behaviours of cold-formed steel for her thesis.

Starting at Envelope in 2022, Rushi assists with residential and commercial projects, including pedestrian bridge design, and residential detailed design. She is enjoying learning from, and sharing ideas with, her colleagues in the Auckland office.

Rushi enjoys working out, finding exercise beneficial for both mental and physical health. She likes to keep the balance with weekend sleep-ins and conjuring up new recipes.

Her drink of choice varies with coffee, tea, lemonade, and fruity wine on list, depending on her mood. But there is always room for one more with Rushi enjoying discovering and trying different food and drink along the trail of her Auckland adventures.

Rushi’s favourite place remains her family home in China, though her mother may have replaced Rushi … as she lavishes her attention on their pet cats these days.

Maybe the Maldives then? Rushi loves the ocean and would love to visit. Besides, there are generally no cats on the beach.
